FAQs

What kind of music do you play?

We have an extensive CD collection and can accommodate most musical tastes.  Our music range covers the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's 90's, 'noughties', chart stuff, indie, Ibiza and the good old fashioned 'floorfillers' that everybody will get up and dance to!!    We can discuss your requirements with you before your event to ensure we fully understand your needs.  You can also email us a list of songs that you would like playing during the evening/party to ensure that your special songs get played.  We will compile a playlist to cover the duration of your party but will always take requests on the night and will tailor the music to suit your party as the evening unfolds to ensure that you and your guests thoroughly enjoy themselves.

We purchase all of our 'chart' and 'club' CDs through a company called DMC.  These CDs are only available to DJs which enables us to play music and future hits that have not yet been released.

Do you do Karaoke?

In a word - NO!

What equipment and lighting do you use?

Numark C3 USB 5 Channel Mixer - NEW for May 2009

Numark CDN90 CD Player - NEW for May 2009

Warrior DA 1300 Amplifier - NEW for April 2009

4 x American DJ LED X-SCANs - NEW for April 2009

1 x ACME ImpossibLED - NEW for April 2009

750w Power Flash Strobe (can be disabled if required)

1 x KAM LED Javelin

2 x ACME Exercet Lights

1 x Source Colour Blade

Smartsound 15" 1000w speakers

For larger venues we use a 3200watts system which fills the space beautifully with a crisp clean sound.

Can you provide uplighting?

Yes.  We can supply and install LED Uplighters for an additional fee (please ask about pricing at the time of enquiry).

These lights are often used in a marquee around the walls but can be used anywhere and really do give a beautiful ambience to any environment.  We can supply any quantity of uplighting.

Is your equipment safe?

Yes.  It has all been tested and certified to the 'Portable Appliance Test' (PAT) which, whilst not compulsory at the moment, more and more venues require evidence of this for their own insurance purposes.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance (PLI)?

Yes.  we hold £5million PLI, a copy of our certificate is available by request.  Our insurance is arranged through DJguard, one of the leading, specialist DJ insurance companies in the UK.

Do you use a fog/smoke machine?

We have a smoke machine and a bubble machine which can be booked in advance and used at no extra cost.  It is advisable to get permission from the venue owners first just in case there are any smoke alarms in the vicinity!

What are your requirements?

We will need an area of approx 3m x 2m and about 3m in height (to accommodate the lighting rig).  We will also need access to 2 separate 13 amp sockets.

Due to the amount of equipment that we have, and it's considerable weight, it would be an advantage to be able to park near to the venue's access for unloading/loading.  If there are known problems with access and parking prior to the event or if your function is taking place upstairs, please let us know at the time of booking.

What time will you arrive?

In order to ensure everything runs smoothly we will normally arrive 1 1/2 hours prior to the start of your function.

How much do you charge?

To be competitive we don't operate a 'one price suits all' pricing structure.  If we did that you might end up paying for somebody elses entertainment!  Everybodys needs are different i.e. one person might want to book us for a childrens birthday party for a couple of hours in the afternoon while somebody else might want four hours for an evening party on a Saturday night at a wedding or even longer over a New Years Eve party.

In the first instance you need to ascertain our availability; from there we can discuss your requirements and  put an individual quote together for you.

Details on how to book our services can be found under 'The Booking Process' menu.

Can you 'pencil' me in for a specific date, or even take a provisional booking?

Due to the number of enquiries we get we can only tell you what our availability is at the time of asking.  The only way to secure a booking is to complete the booking form and return to us with a deposit.  We will send you an invoice which also acts as confirmation of your booking.  This avoids any disappointment and secures FoxRox Discos and a DJ for your special occasion.

What will you wear?

Casual, smart casual, or shirt and tie by request.  Depends very much on the venue and event.  (We don't do spinning bow ties with flashing lights!!!)

Do you talk much between the songs?

Only to make announcements either on behalf of our client and the venue or when we feel the situation would benefit from some vocal input, but generally we will try and keep off the microphone and let the audience enjoy the music.

Can you stay on beyond our agreed time?

Yes.  We charge a flat rate of £40 per hour beyond our agreed contract time.

Can we come and see you perform at somebody elses party?

I'm afraid this is not possible due to the fact that most parties are private parties and invites do not extend to potential clients of the DJ.  I sometimes post feedback from recent gigs on my homepage.  These are genuine emails and comments I receive after the event.

Do you do childrens parties?

Yes we do, but we don't make giraffes out of balloons or pull rabbits out of hats or dress up as Coco the Clown!  We can play plenty of great party music and/or chart music and we're happy to help out with playing the music to accompany party games.  We can supply glowsticks in packs of 100, a smoke machine and bubble machine all add to the fun- the children will love it!

Can I buy the DJ a drink?!!

Yes.  I thought you'd never ask - but only water (or maybe a diet coke!)
